Once upon a time, my very brave mother decided to take my two oldest punks on a road trip. The final destination would be their Grandparent's house where my mom would also visit her friend, as she wondered what possessed her to do such a thing.
The boys were very excited to get away from me. They talked about all the adventures they would have. They dreamed of campfires and hot dog roasts. They anticipated the thrilling and mysterious videos they would watch with Grandpa. And, they talked about what fun things they could do with Uncle Samuel. Darren is the most generous kid in the world. He promised the two little punks that he would bring treasures from afar. When threatened that he would not be able to go due to uhhh...shall we say, "tween" misbehavior?, Preston protested loudly, "But he has to go! He's going to bring me something!" The long awaited day finally came. Preston was not very happy and asked for the umpteenth time if he could go too. He thought it was very unfair that he did not get to embark on such an adventure with Grandma.
As he was stomping his fat little foot, Karsten sweetly reminded him, "That's ok, Preston. You get to spend the day with me!"
Preston was not impressed.
At all.
In the end, little punks stayed home and had a blast: going to Chili's, renting M&M Wii, watching movies, having ice cream, and best of all, hanging out with MOM!
